About Creighton University
Creighton University was founded in 1878, as Creighton College, with the help of Mary Lucretia Creighton, who wanted to establish a school in memory of her husband, prominent local businessman Edward Creighton.
The 14 athletic teams from Creighton University are known as the Creighton Bluejays, who compete in NCAA Division I of the Missouri Valley Conference, in 8 sports which include basketball, soccer and baseball, sports in which they achieved many titles over the past years.

Archaeological investigations suggest that the area where Omaha lies today has been inhabited in the past by various Native American tribes, as early as from the 1600's.
